Well, I passed my ranking test with Raja Muay Thai/Universal Tactics here in Greenville, SC this past weekend.
Very happy about it.
For an entry level ranking test it was actually more difficult than I would have previously expected...The guys in the Thai Boxing Association don't mess around :)
Anywhoo...here's a couple videos from the test for any of you that are interested. Special thanks to my wife for taking the video:

Not really sure what's going on, but congrats nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteWell, the firs video shows the focus mitt or 'boxing' round. Basically, it is a test of reflexes/reaction speed and proper technique.
ReplyDeleteVideo 2 is a 3 minute round where I am required to land 60 kicks and 40 knees. It is more of a test of conditioning and 'spirit' than anything else.
Thanks for the support :)
First of all, Grats for you :) But i see atleast one problem and that is when u kick or punch (jabs) you usually drop your guarding hand and that is a bad mistake but im sure you will be able fix that problem. Also when you kick turn your hips a littlebit more and your foot your standing on should also rotate a bit so you will get like 1/3 times better kick ;) But Well done!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteYeah, dropping my hand seems to be a habit I keep falling into. I'm working on it :)
And you are right about the kicks. I have a Tae Kwan Do/Chung Do Kwan background and I tend to have "snappier" kicks rather than the Thai style kicks.
Thanks for the input!
